    Monsanto is awarding five $2,000 grants this week to help elevate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education at schools and youth programs in the greater St. Louis region.

    The 2015-2016 Dannette Ward Science Education Grant recipients include Cross Keys Middle School, Gateway Region YMCA, Hillsboro Elementary School, Jennings High School and the Parkway Spark! program.

    The Soil Health Partnership announced the addition of 25 farms in eight Midwestern states joining the research effort to help identify, test and measure farm management practices that improve soil health. These practices include growing cover crops, conservation tillage like no-till or strip-till, and using sophisticated nutrient management techniques.

The World Wildlife Fund and the Mexican National Commission of Protected Natural Areas recently announced an uptick in monarch butterfly population numbers. The organizations urged farmers, ranchers, land owners, conservations, and others to keep working collaboratively to support this progress.
